Ingredients:

  • 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 tablespoon black peppercorns, coarsely ground
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds, coarsely ground
  • 1 teaspoon coriander seeds, coarsely ground
  • 1 teaspoon fennel seeds, coarsely ground
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon garlic paste
  • 1 tablespoon ginger paste
  • 2-3 green chilies, chopped
  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro leaves

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, mix together the chicken, black pepper, cumin, coriander, fennel, turmeric, red chili powder, and salt. Set aside for at least 30 minutes to marinate.
  2. In a large skillet or wok, heat the oil over medium-high heat. Add the onion and sauté until golden brown, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Add the garlic paste, ginger paste, and green chilies to the skillet and sauté for another minute.
  4. Add the marinated chicken and cook, stirring occasionally, until the chicken is browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Reduce the heat to low, add the yogurt, and stir well. Cover the skillet and simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the sauce has thickened.
  6. Garnish with chopped cilantro leaves and serve hot with rice or naan.
